Concrete on site with GeotechOS Lab

Book a concrete pour on a phone and sample each load on site. Test its slump or slump flow, make the cylinders and issue the field report before you leave. The course follows AS 1012.1, AS 1012.3.1 and AS 1012.8.1.

This course follows one concrete pour through GeotechOS Lab. The office, or the tester on a phone, books the pour. The tester samples each load on site, tests its consistency and makes its cylinders. The cylinders are picked up and put into curing. The field report goes to the client before the tester leaves site.

What you learn

  • How a pour is booked, so that its site visit is on the tester's phone.
  • How to sample a load and record what AS 1012.1 asks for.
  • How to record a slump, or a slump flow for self-compacting and high-workability concrete.
  • How to make cylinders, beams and prisms, and record a strength for stressing.
  • How to pick up the specimens and put them into curing.
  • How to issue the fresh concrete field report from site.

Who this course is for

Concrete testers who sample on site, and the office staff who book pours. Know the tests before you start. The course teaches GeotechOS Lab, not the methods.

What you need

  • A free GeotechOS account.
  • Your laboratory's licensed copies of AS 1012.1, AS 1012.3.1 and AS 1012.8.1.
  • For self-compacting or super-workable concrete, its copies of AS 1012.3.5, TS 02800.58 and TMR Q478. The course gives clause numbers, never the standard's text or limits.

How it works

Ask to join. Our team checks with you and your laboratory, then enrols you. Each module has short lessons and a quiz of four questions. Pass every quiz and read every lesson to get your certificate.

Questions

Does the course teach how to break the cylinders?

No. Breaking cylinders (AS 1012.9) is laboratory work with its own steps. This course ends when the cylinders are in curing and the field report is issued.

Can I sample without a booked pour?

Yes. Open any site visit and tap Sample concrete. The load then takes a job of its own. Booking the pour first keeps its loads on one work request.
