This course teaches you to do a soaked California bearing ratio (CBR) test in GeotechOS Lab. You book in the test with its MDD, then prepare, compact and soak the specimen. You take the penetration readings and check the result. Then the result goes to review and on to the report for the client.
What you learn
- What the CBR test is, why the specimen is soaked, and the stages of the test.
- How Lab works out the targets from the approved MDD, and the warnings it gives as you prepare the specimen.
- How to record the soak, the measurements and the penetration readings, and how to correct a curve.
- What Lab works out, how to check it, and how the result reaches an issued report.
- What changes for the TfNSW and TMR methods.
Who this course is for
Laboratory technicians who do the soaked CBR in GeotechOS Lab, and the reviewers and approvers who check it. Know the test at the bench before you start. The course teaches Lab, not the method.
What you need
- A free GeotechOS account.
- Your laboratory's licensed copy of AS 1289.6.1.1, and of the TfNSW or TMR methods it runs. The course gives clause numbers, never the standard's text or limits.
How it works
Ask to join. Our team checks with you and your laboratory, then enrols you. Each module has short lessons and a quiz of four questions. Pass every quiz and read every lesson to get your certificate.
Questions
Do I need a NATA-accredited laboratory?
No, to take the course. Your laboratory decides who may do the test in Lab, and a report is endorsed only for methods in its accreditation scope.
Can I take the course without access to GeotechOS Lab?
Yes. The lessons show each step with screenshots. You get the most from the course when you can try the steps in your laboratory's Lab.
