What Borehole Logging does
GeotechOS Borehole Logging is an app for geotechnical teams. Learn how projects, investigations and holes fit together, and how the app works offline.

GeotechOS Borehole Logging is an app for geotechnical teams. You use it to record boreholes and test pits, and to print log sheets to AS 1726-2017.
Two ways to use Borehole Logging
- The desktop workspace. Use it on a computer with Windows or macOS, or in a web browser. It has a ribbon, a project tree and tables, like other office software. Use it to enter and check logs, and to print log sheets, sections and charts.
- The field logger. Use it on a phone or a tablet at the site. It shows one hole at a time, with large fields that are easy to touch.
The two use the same data. A hole that you log in the field shows on the desktop after the next sync.
How your data is organised
| Word | What it is |
|---|---|
| Project | One job for one client, for example Example Road Upgrade. A project has a number, a client, a site address and a coordinate system. |
| Investigation | One stage of work in a project. A new project has one investigation. Add more for later stages. |
| Hole | A borehole or a test pit. Each hole has an identifier, for example BH01 or TP01, and a final depth. |
| Table | One type of record in a hole, for example the lithology, the samples or the groundwater. |
| Row | One record in a table, for example one soil layer from 1.40 m to 3.80 m. |
Work without signal
Borehole Logging keeps your projects on your device. You can log holes with no internet connection. When the device is online again, Borehole Logging sends your changes to the server and gets the changes that other people made. This is a sync.
When you edit a hole, Borehole Logging holds that hole for your device. Other devices cannot change the hole at the same time. This stops two people from changing the same row in different ways.
What you get
- Log sheets to AS 1726-2017, TfNSW / RMS, or your own template, as PDF files.
- Checks that tell you what is missing or wrong in a log before you print it.
- Sections, fence diagrams, a site map, a 3D view and charts of test results.
- Import from AGS 4 files and gINT projects. Export to AGS 4, Excel and KML.
